About the work
Swampy is a song about meeting and becoming friends with an alligator! The song was about my favourite beanie baby of the same name. I love the idea of telling a story through instrumentals alone, leaving much of the details up to the imagination of the listener. The two synth leads I created to be the “voice” of each character, a crunchy biting synth for Swampy, and a smooth playful synth for the companion.
I am inspired by Japanese Kawaii Bass, a form of future bass that couples bouncing ecstatic trap and dubstep music with hyper-cuteness and happiness. I am especially inspired by the artist Neko Hacker, who combines this genre with electric guitar melodies. I hate taking myself too seriously and I want my music to be a bit of lighthearted fun.
Student Bio
I come from a family of musicians, and I have played the guitar for over 15 years. I hate being boring, I am always dressed in the brightest colours and craziest combinations. This reflects in the music I create, and I have found myself able to nurture and express this individuality and creativity throughout my time at confetti.
I have attended Confetti since 2016, from the BTEC Level 3 Performance course. I have met my best friends and my partner at Confetti and improved myself more than I ever thought I could. I went from not really knowing anything about electronic music to becoming a skilled and certified producer.
In the future, I would love to work with visual artists to bring my musical stories to life. I hope to go down a more academic route, with a masters in musicology, eventually studying ecomusicology and marine acoustics.
