About the work
We undertook a variety of different projects throughout the year that allowed me to explore and improve upon a variety of different skills including 3D modelling, 2D artwork, and coding.
The first of the three projects was my 2D piece. I decided to go for a racing game set in the far future, where humanity settled their disputes through winning races, taking place on different home planets due to humans leaving Earth and claiming new planets for themselves. Throughout the year I designed a wide range of characters and vehicles that would be playable within the game, each character representing their own faction, allowing me to get a unique roster of character and vehicle designs to suit their personalities and home planets.
The second was my 3D environment, where I wanted to create a near-future police station/precinct that was established in a repurposed building inspired by more modern-day structures. Throughout my 3D experience, I was able to pick up a lot of new skills, using new software and improving in other areas I wasn’t originally confident with.
Building upon my 3D environment idea, my last of the three projects was making an interactive visual novel demo, this being named the “Seventh Street Precinct”. This was linked to my final dissertation which explored the world of visual novels and also gave me the opportunity to create my own. I also was able to release the game to the public and get a wide range of feedback in order to get a good understanding of what others thought, and then discuss my feedback in the dissertation! The visual novel allowed me to use my 2D, 3D, and coding skills altogether to create one final product.
Student Bio
My Confetti experience felt both challenging and highly rewarding. Throughout the course I was able to learn a wide range of different skills and even discover new ways to convey my ideas and passions. Along the way I met a wide range of amazing people who helped and encourage me to reach my potential in the course, I am certain I couldn’t have done it without them.
I was given the opportunity to attend events, such as Industry Week, which was highly enlightening and helped guide me in the direction I want to go after university.
Confetti has been an unforgettable experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life, I look forward to what the future holds and I’m eager to continue to improve my skills in order to make it into the industry!
