About the work

I knew for my final year project I wanted the focus to be on creatures as using Zbrush was what I enjoyed the most. After talking with my tutor, I decided to make the focus on Warcraft, and I decided to create a Warcraft Orc as I had seen the film and the VFX in it and I thought it would be a fun and interesting challenge that would allow me to really learn anatomy as well.

The project required a lot of research into anatomy as the Orcs had huge muscles that I wanted to make sure we’re right. I collected lots of references to Orcs and human anatomy and frequently used the Anatomy for Sculptor’s books.

Throughout the project, I also accessed feedback from my mentor, which allowed me to keep improving the Orc to make sure it was the best it could be.

The Orc itself and the clothes were sculpted in Zbrush, textured in Substance Painter and rendered in Maya.

Student Bio

I transferred to Visual Effects after studying Games Technology. I have always had a love of films and always wanted to create things. My time at Confetti has been amazing I have worked on some amazing projects with some amazing people. I took to the Creature/Modelling and Environment side the most and that is what I am going to focus my career on going forward. Now I hope to continue my journey into the VFX industry.
